“I thank the Church Of Christ members for joining us, for braving the weather, getting stuck in beautifying the Papakura Town Centre, and just really caring for the environment, cleaning up, doing what we can to make this community safer and a better place.”
Thus Dawn Crispe, community manager, said after witnessing the clean-up drive in their community carried out by the members of the Local Congregation of Papakura, Ecclesiastical District of New Zealand.
On May 29, 2021, the brethren, led by their resident minister, Brother Daniel Diaz, conducted back-to-back clean-up drives. Assembling themselves in groups while strictly observing the health and safety protocols, the brethren cleaned the Puhinui Stream in Manurewa and Takanini areas, and vicinity of the Papakura Central School.
They collected discarded shopping trolleys, old tires, plastic bottles, containers, and other sorts of unwanted rubbish and wastes, which were then properly disposed of.
Annie Iglesia, a choir member, said that such activity “enhances our brotherhood and also [a form of] exercise for everyone who participated.”
She added: “To our Church Administration, thank you so much for approving activities like this which strengthens our faith and the relationship of the Church with the community.” — With reports from INC News Section
