Braving the danger of contracting the Covid-19 pandemic virus in their journalistic works, media professionals are counted as frontliners.
On May 28, 2021, the Administration of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ), through the Felix Y. Manalo (FYM) Foundation, Inc. expressed appreciation for their noble efforts by handing out relief packages to members of the media in Metro Manila, Philippines.
Representatives of press corps and media organizations throughout the metropolis gathered in the Eagle Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) building along Central Avenue in Barangay New Era, Quezon City to receive the humanitarian aid.
Representing the Church, Brother Glicerio P. Santos IV, minister of the gospel, led the giving of relief packages, which contained essential goods such as food and sanitary products.
The media representatives presented a certificate and a plaque of appreciation to the FYM Foundation.
“This is really a big help for our friends in the media. We did not ask, but you voluntarily provided for media frontliners,” Mr. Joel Egco, Executive Director of the Presidential Task Force on Media Security, said. “We are aware that you conduct activities like this not only here but also throughout the world. Thank you so much. Your efforts are truly heartwarming.”
On behalf of the National Press Club (NPC) of the Philippines and affiliate organizations, Mr. Paul Gutierrez, NPC president, said, “We thank the Iglesia Ni Cristo. You have helped so many people through your Lingap sa Mamamayan (Aid to Humanity) projects, including us in the media, which is also a vulnerable sector of our society. This aid you conducted is very timely as we are also baffled on how to support the need of our members.” — With reports from INC News Section
