Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members from Narvik, Norway used to fly south to Stavanger, a distance of almost 1, 200 kilometers, to attend worship services. Now they could fulfill this sacred duty of theirs to God with the establishment of a GWS in their own town.
Leo Yangat, appointed as the new GWS’ head deacon, said, “It only shows that nothing can stop God’s work. And that He has allowed the Church to reach this part of the world so that many people will know about the Church Of Christ.”
The members of the Narvik GWS held the inaugural worship service on December 3, 2022, which signaled its formal establishment.
Brother Romeo Marquez, the Northern Europe District supervising minister, officiated at the holy gathering held at the Thon Partner Hotel in Skistuaveien, Narvik.
As approved by the Church Administration, regular worship services of the new GWS will be held in the residence of couples Solve and Josielynn Groth family situated at Fridtjof Nansens, Vei 33, Narvik.
“I was so happy when it was announced that the brethren here in Narvik will be organized into a GWS. I am thankful that God answered our prayers and it came unexpectedly fast,” said Josielynn.
“The fact that we are now in the Church Of Christ is of great importance to me and my family,” said Solve. “There are many churches but it is only the Church Of Christ that really follows what is in the Bible. I’m very satisfied of being a member of the Church.”
In his homily during the worship service, Brother Marquez encouraged the brethren to accord utmost dedication and reverence to the worship service despite the dire situation of the world, reassuring them through God’s words that He does not abandon His faithful servants and will Himself lead them to their salvation.
“The brethren are exceedingly happy that they have been given this opportunity to become even more active in worshiping our Almighty God,” said Brother Marquez in an interview. “They made their promise that they will not neglect their worship services and also their responsibility to spread His words. The truth is even today, they have proven that promise to God that they even invited many guests to also witness the momentous occasion.” — With reports from INC News Section
