Church Of Christ members from the Local Congregation of Falconridge, Ecclesiastical District of Calgary donated blood to the Canadian Blood Services (CBS) for the sake of its beneficiaries.
Blood extraction procedures were conducted at the CBS Calgary, Canada branch located at the second floor of the Eau Claire Market Mall, 200 Barclay Parade SW.
According to Brother Joubert Dilidili, the congregation’s KADIWA president, the growing need for blood amid the current health crisis served as impetus for this act of charity.
“Ever since the whole pandemic happened, there’s been a need for blood donation, so it’s really important for us to help out in donating blood.”
The event was pre-booked weeks in advance to follow the city precautions implemented by the local government and the CBS.
“In donating blood, we followed certain protocols before, during, and even after the donation in order for us to be secured also when it comes to our health,” Brother Christopher Salabit, resident minister, said.
Brother Brainard Amay, KADIWA congregation vice president, remarked that completing the charity event was a rewarding and heartwarming experience, especially for those who served as blood donors for the first time.
“Yes, it was my first time. It was actually pretty good. I thought it would be worst but it was not. So, conquering your fears for the sake of others feels good,” he said.
Each donor received an official donor card so that they can donate blood again after two months. — With reports from INC News Section
