MANILA – “Lingap Laban sa Kahirapan,” an outreach event hosted by the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) on July 15, 2018 was held at the Quirino Grandstand just 12 days before the Church’s 104th anniversary.
An estimated 120,000 people attended the said outreach activity.
Free medical and dental services were given to the attendees.
“What you see today is a big evidence of God’s help to the Church Of Christ, because this Aid to Fight Poverty is our love for our brethren and fellowmen. All medical services were conducted despite the [inclement] weather,” Brother Serge Santos, a minister of the gospel and the director of the Felix Y. Manalo Foundation, said.
More than 1,000 medical volunteers, 200 doctors, and 200 dentists volunteered for the medical and dental missions.
Some of the medical services that were provided were blood chemistry test, blood typing and CBC blood test, urinalysis, pregnancy test. Medicines were also given for free.
Specialized areas for electrocardiogram (ECG) test, ultrasound, defibrillator machines, as well as 50 ECG machines, ten ultrasound, and two-dimensional echocardiogram (2D Echo) machines, were set up in the air-conditioned 25-bed mini-hospital. Several ambulances were also on standby.
To facilitate the medical and dental services, a ‘general consultation area’, ‘specialized consultation area’, and a ‘central pharmacy’ were set up.
The attendees also were treated to an entertainment program.
At 2:00 p.m., Brother Glicerio B. Santos Jr., the Church’s General Auditor, preached the gospel to the attendees and guests.
Afterwards, goodwill bags were given for free to the thousands of guests who packed the venue.
The “Lingap Laban sa Kahirapan” is one of the results of the Iglesia Ni Cristo’s “Worldwide Walk to Fight Poverty,” which was held last May 6.
