Direct Aid for Mindanao Earthquake Survivors
MINDANAO, PHILIPPINES — The Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) conducted a 14-part series of humanitarian relief events (Lingap sa Mamamayan) across Southern Mindanao, in the southern part of the Philippine archipelago from November 2-5, 2019.
On November 17, 2019, the Felix Y. Manalo (FYM) Foundation held another humanitarian event within the vicinity of the INC local congregation of Kidapawan in Cotabato, Philippines.
The INC’s property in Kidapawan was packed with men, women, and children who eagerly queued up for the free event which began after a worship service led by Brother Glicerio B. Santos Jr..
According to Brother Glicerio, the humanitarian effort is part of the Church Administration’s continuous aid to our fellowmen in Mindanao whose homes and means of livelihood were deeply affected by the series of earthquakes in early November.
The anti-poverty event in Kidapawan included the distribution of 6,000 packages of basic necessities and gave financial assistance to 467 families whose houses were damaged or were beyond repair due to the natural disaster.
Throughout this year the Iglesia Ni Cristo has actively carried out charitable, community-based missions through the FYM Foundation in its sincere effort to fight poverty and to provide relief to calamity-stricken people throughout the world—in Canada, Japan, the United States and Brazil.
