SUBJECT OF ARTWORK
The artwork should depict any event or activity, object or material, scene, or any such subject that expresses the Church’s theme for 2018: Don’t extinguish the fire of the Holy Spirit.
Size: Should be at least 11 inches by 14 inches but not bigger than 36 inches by 48 inches (excluding frame).
Weight: Must not exceed 10 kilos (including backing board and frame).
Medium: Charcoal, graphite, chalks, pastels, oil, acrylic, watercolor, tempera, fresco, printmaking, collage, and mixed media.
Orientation: Vertical or horizontal entries must be ready for exhibition (with or without frame, but stretched across backing board, and with proper hanging system using nylon cord. Watercolor artworks should have backing board and covered with plastic or framed with glass.)
Sculpture should be freestanding.
Size: Height should be at least one (1) foot but not more than two (2) feet (including base); and not more than two (2) feet on all sides.
Base (optional) must be at least one (1) inch but not more than two (2) inches in height and should not be more than one–half (1.5) feet on all sides.
Weight: Must be between 10 kilos and 50 kilos.
Material/s accepted: Stone, metal, glass, pottery, wood or any other durable material or combination of these.
EVM Art is an international art contest organized, managed and administered by Iglesia Ni Cristo Christian Family Organizations (CFO).
The INC CFO may in its absolute discretion and at any time refuse to accept or withdraw from the art contest those entries which:
- (a) go against the Church’s sentiments, or public taste;
- (b) do not meet the art contest’s eligibility rules; and
- (c) in any other way contradict the rules and the objectives of the EVM Art Contest.
All entries selected as finalists shall automatically become properties of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) Museum and Gallery.
Photos of finalist artworks will be published in Iglesia Ni Cristo publications, such as Pasugo: God’s Message, religious tracts, coffee table books, as deemed fit.
The intellectual property rights over all works selected as finalists shall be given to the INC Museum and Gallery in perpetuity. This includes the right to use, produce or reproduce, and take pictures of the artwork, as well as prepare derivative works of the designs for whatever purpose and whichever form as may be deemed fit by the INC Museum and Gallery without further compensation to the artist or his/her heirs and assignees.
The INC Museum and Gallery reserves the right to use the name and photo of the artist and his/her entry for free in any broadcast, print, or digital media and to exhibit the entry as deemed fit. It further reserves the right to decide which entries will be displayed during the competition exhibit as well as those to be included in the Catalogue of Entries.
The Church assumes no responsibility for any loss or damage to the entries before, during and/or after the competition.
Participants shall hold the organizer and/or any of its officers or staff free and harmless from any liability/claims for loss, damage or injury to the artworks while in exhibit or in storage.
ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The competition is open to all Iglesia Ni Cristo members (including ministers, ministerial workers, ministerial students, and Church officers). Beginner, amateur, even professional artists, may participate.
NO participation fee is required.
Entries should be the original work/s of the participating artists. Any entry found violating this rule will be disqualified.
Participants may submit only one (1) piece of art in each category.
Entries should not be owned by someone else other than the artist himself.
Entries must NOT have been exhibited before, revised, and awarded a prize in previous/other art contests/ competitions.
The same piece of work cannot be submitted to the EVM Art in consecutive years.
Entries must be signed by the participant but the signature should be covered prior to submission to conceal the artist’s identity.
Entries must also be properly labeled using a duplicate of the participant’s entry form.
Entries with incomplete documentation or which are non- compliant with the requirements shall be automatically disqualified.
Offensive entries will be rejected.
If the artist wishes to withdraw his/her entry/entries, he/she may notify the District CFO Overseer’s office.
Entry Form. Entry form can be obtained from your District CFO Overseer; or can be downloaded from www.facebook. com/ChristianFamilyOrganizations.
Submission and deadline. SUBMIT your entries to the District CFO Overseer’s office on or before February 25, 2019. Entries submitted AFTER the deadline will not be accepted. The artist’s entry form must be submitted along with his/her entry.
Judging. All entries will undergo preliminary screening before final judging. The decision of the judges shall be final. First, second, and third places shall be awarded for each category.
Claiming of Artworks. All non-winning and non-selected entries must be retrieved from the District CFO Overseer‘s office by participants or their designated representatives (with authorization letter) starting April 8, 2019 to April 14, 2019 ONLY. Unclaimed artworks shall be disposed of by the contest organizer.
