The Care for Humanity event hosted by the Ecclesiastical District of Calgary on January 15, 2023, benefited five local charity groups as well the hundreds of people present. It was held at Macleod Hall in Telus Convention Center, Calgary, Canada.
“By extending our help to the less fortunate and those who have suffered setbacks because of the ongoing economic crisis, and more importantly, by sharing God’s words, we, in the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ), are fulfilling God’s command,” Brother Voltaire Tamisin, district supervising minister, said.
After explaining to the attendees the biblical reason why the Church Of Christ helps people affected by adversities and economic crises through its charitable arm, the Felix Y. Manalo Foundation, Brother Tamisin led the distribution of 1,200 care packages containing personal hygiene kits and non-perishable food items.
A donation worth $3,000 was given to each of five local charities, namely, Hope Mission, Calgary Drop-in, Action 4 Humanity, Community Wise, and Mustard Seed.
“Your support and donation today will help us get closer to a community of people experiencing homelessness. Thank you very much,” said Cindy Ngo from Dignitary Calgary Drop-in Centre.
“I am so thankful to the Church Of Christ spearheaded by its Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, for organizing this event,” said Zaldy Patron, Philippine consulate general in Calgary. “The care packages you have distributed today mean a lot to many of our countrymen suffering from economic difficulties these days.”
“It makes me extremely proud as a Filipino working abroad seeing the Church Of Christ extending a helping hand even abroad,” said Rosman Valencia, one of the guests. — With reports from INC News Section
