“It’s specially important to thank you for all the great volunteer work that you have done while Covid-19 has been in our city ... there are people such as yourselves out there that are willing to step up, to help, to provide services.”
This was expressed by Keith Egli, Councillor of Ward 9 Knoxdale-Merivale, in appreciation of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ), in general, and the Capital City Local Congregation and Gatineau Group Worship Service, in particular after these groups’ members’ cleanup drive of Confederation Park, along Elgin St., in downtown Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
The cleanup on October 9, 2021, among others, was conducted by the two congregations in Ecclesiastical District of Ottawa to celebrate of their second anniversary.
It was held under the INC Giving program and in collaboration with the Glad Cleaning up the Capital, a campaign of the city that aims to involve neighborhoods and communities to keep Ottawa clean.
“That’s something that your Church and its members do on a regular basis, and ... you continue to do through a difficult time for our community. So, thank you so much for what you do. It’s so appreciated,” Mr. Egli added.
Meanwhile, Theresa Kavanagh, Bay Ward Councillor, sent a letter of appreciation addressed to the Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo. Part of the letter state concerning the brethren: “It is volunteers like you that make our community strong. I am so proud of all your efforts.”
“The INC Giving project is initiated by the Church Of Christ or Iglesia Ni Cristo … to help communities. Brethren and even nonmembers join this initiative to help increase awareness among our fellowmen all over the world of the importance of helping out in the community,” explained Brother Ken Ryan Paluga, resident ministerial worker.
Both the Capital City Congregation and the Gatineau GWS are offspring of the Local Congregation of Nepean. At present, the Ecclesiastical District of Ottawa in Canada consists of 13 congregations and five GWS. — With reports from INC News Section
