The Ecclesiastical Districts of Nueva Vizcaya and Tarlac City, Tarlac in the Philippines conducted blood donation activities on February 15 and 25, 2020, respectively.
Brethren from Nueva Vizcaya District gathered at Bonfal Proper Covered Court in Bayombong. Christian Family Organizations (CFO) and Region II Trauma and Medical Center’s nurses facilitated the activity and a total of 125 blood bags were collected.
In Tarlac City, Tarlac District, the joint efforts of the Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS), Society of Communicators and Networkers International (SCAN), and Church officers yielded 156 blood bags through the activity held at Bulwagang KanLahi Diwa ng Tarlac, San Vicente, Tarlac City .
“I am joyful for I am able to help those in need of blood,” Roldan Hernaes, a choir member from Villaverde Local Congregation, expressed.
Brother Federico Ramos, assistant district supervising minister, said, “The Church Of Christ conducts this activity to help members and nonmembers alike who are in need of blood. Especially in these times that many illnesses afflict people, supply of blood is really needed.”
The participants aimed to help their fellowmen afflicted with blood-required illnesses such as dengue fever.
On the benefits of donating blood, Dr. Cherilyn Galima, one of the physician-volunteers, said, “First on the psychological aspect, the thought that you help your fellowman is a big thing for you. Another is that every three months blood is replaced so it is replenished and the production of red blood cells is boosted. When you give blood, it will be of help to others.”
“This activity is of great help to our patients. We thank the Church Of Christ for the support,” she added. ― With reports from INC News Section
