A delegation of ministers and ministerial workers from the Caribbean Ecclesiastical District extended aid to residents of five communities in Haiti during the last week of February, taking the opportunity to introduce them to the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ).

Assistant district supervising minister, Brother Ruben Bustos Jr., who flew in from Miami, Florida, USA, where the district office is located, led this three-day series of Care for Humanity events.

“In activities like these, we are able to fulfill the instruction of our Lord God, through the Church Administration, concerning the giving of assistance to our fellowmen no matter where they at, even in far-flung places,” said Brother Bustos. “Also, we are able to share with them the teachings of our Father, which is far more important than any amount of material assistance.”

The delegation started off on February 23 in a community in Decouvert, a town in the Ouest region almost 40 kilometers north of the country’s capital city, Port-au-Prince. Aside from the villagers, the students in a school received care packages containing basic daily necessities as well as school supplies.

On the second day, the deputation of ministers and ministerial workers conducted the humanitarian event in two communities within the towns of Caiman and Ravine Pak.

Noel Joseph, director of a community school in Ravine Pak where the outreach activity was held, said, “I feel great because the Church has helped us out; such donations are timely as there are many parents in the neighborhood and nearby that do not have much.”

The final day, February 25, saw residents of two communities, first in La Fond, and then in Les Palmes, benefiting from the outreach-evangelical mission.

In each community, prior to the outreach activity, Brother Bustos led the study of words of God to share the basic Bible doctrines upheld in the Church, especially about salvation. His preaching was translated into Haitian Creole, by Brother Camy Augustin, a minister of the gospel assigned in Haiti, on the first two days, and by Dieunel Joseph, a head deacon from the Petit Goave Congregation, on the third day.

“I’m happy and proud that the Church not only offers us material blessings but also spiritual blessings that bring us closer to God,” Noel Joseph, who has been undergoing instruction in Bible doctrines since December last year, said. “So, I encourage my fellowmen to continue examining the Church Of Christ because it has the true gospel.” — With reports from INC News Section
