“The Wonderful Blessings to Come”

They said YES! We’re allowed to help! Wow, but we don’t know anything! We just had our first training last month!! We were ecstatic and extremely humbled that we could help document this historic day.

For the 95th Anniversary celebration of the Church of Christ, a handful of INC Media bureau members from Canada were given the opportunity to help the District of Northeastern Seaboard in their media coverage.

We were overjoyed and extremely humbled that we could help document this historic day.

And to think, we’d be meeting at the Temple Hills chapel! So many beautiful memories made there during our teenage years. We’d travel with our families almost 1000 kilometers from Canada to the DC/Maryland area every July for the Eastern Seaboard (later Northeastern Seaboard) Sportsfest.

Now, as adults, we’d be making that familiar 12-hour drive again.

On the morning of the celebration, we left our hotel very early to ride the Metro to the Convention Center. By God’s grace we arrived safely and were among the first Church members there. I took a quick photo to capture the moment, and when we zoomed in we noticed the time: 7:27! 7/27!!

It was a beautiful start to the many wonderful blessings to come on that day, July 27, 2009.

Throughout the day, we interviewed INC members and guests as they poured in from all over the Eastern United States and Canada.  Thousands gathered for a spiritual worship service, and for a world-class program viewed by various sites in the Philippines and abroad.

But what I remember most was the video message of Brother Erano G. Manalo.  We could feel the love and sense of urgency in each word as he reminded us to hold on to our faith until the end.  And as he mentioned that the gospel will be preached to all parts of the world, and then the end will come, I thought about how little time we have left.  It made the work that we were a part of that day mean even more. With so many means to reach out through media, more and more people will see the unequalled progress that the Church of Christ has made, and will hopefully realize this is the work of God for His chosen people.  The 95th Anniversary Celebration of the Church was on a whole new level of scope and quality, and this was just the beginning.
